College Football Playoff Foundation Celebrates Second Annual EYFT Week

IRVING, Texas – The College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation today announced details surrounding 2016 Extra Yard for Teachers (EYFT) Week.

An eight-day period dedicated to recognizing educators throughout the country for their hard work, the CFP Foundation has partnered with universities, bowls, and conferences to place focus on teachers in various communities.

“We are thrilled to be able to present Extra Yard for Teachers Week for a second year,” said Britton Banowsky, CFP Foundation Executive Director. “With the help of countless partners, we hope to recognize and reinforce the tremendous value that teachers contribute to our communities. Our teachers are educating the next generation, for which we should all be grateful.”

First celebrated in October 2015, EYFT Week uses the powerful platform of college football to uplift teachers through impactful activations. Elements of EYFT Week include:

  • Teacher recognition on-field during various college football games
  • In-game support, including helmet decals worn by student-athletes in support of teachers
  • Testimonials from student-athletes and coaches about the impact of educators
  • Funding of select DonorsChoose.org classroom project requests
  • Social media activation to engage fans and teachers

EYFT Week is one of four annual CFP Foundation events aimed at leveraging the opportunity college football provides to elevate the teaching profession. To date, the CFP Foundation has provided more than $5 million dollars in supporting education through the following initiatives: 1) Direct Provision of Resources, 2) Teacher Recognition, and (3) Professional Development.
