College Football Playoff Foundation Partners with Orange Bowl to Support Teachers in South Florida
$100,000 Committed to Fund Classroom Projects in Public Schools
IRVING, Texas – The College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation today announced a partnership with the Orange Bowl Committee (OBC) that will result in the funding of classroom project requests in Miami-Dade and Broward County public schools.
“Thanks to the generosity of the Orange Bowl Committee, we are in a position to impact the lives of thousands of students throughout South Florida,” said Britton Banowsky, Executive Director of the CFP Foundation. “We are so grateful to have a partner that shares our belief that great teachers make great communities.”
DonorsChoose.org is a national organization that allows people to assist with classroom projects that are listed by teachers.
Through the College Football Playoff and DonorsChoose.org partnership, which began in August 2014, the CFP Foundation has provided direct fnancial support and assistance to teachers, one of the four pillars associated with the primary philanthropic initiative of the CFP Foundation, Extra Yard for Teachers.
In South Florida, the CFP Foundation has pledged $50,000 to the cause, a fgure that has been matched by the Orange Bowl Committee. More than 750 DonorsChoose.org classroom project requests are currently listed on www.DonorsChoose.org (http://www.DonorsChoose.org), including requests for school supplies, technology and books.
“The Extra Yard for Teachers Program will provide vital resources for our local teachers and students that will ultimately have a positive impact on South Florida for years to come,” said Lee Stapleton, president and chair of the Orange Bowl Committee. “The Orange Bowl Committee is excited to partner with the College Football Playoff Foundation on this program locally, to inspire our youth to strive for academic excellence.”
