MISSION

The CFP Foundation’s primary platform, Extra Yard for Teachers, elevates the teaching profession by inspiring and empowering teachers.

VISION

We envision a country in which our greatest assets, teachers, are given the resources, recognition and professional development they require in order to prepare our nation’s students for success.

The College Football Playoff Foundation (@CFPExtraYard) is the 501(c)3 non profit organization serving as the community engagement arm of the College Football Playoff (@CFBPlayoff) and works in partnership with institutions of higher education, sports organizations, corporations and nonprofits to support educators and improve U.S. student outcomes. The purpose of the CFP Foundation lies in supporting PK-12 education across the country. The CFP Foundation’s primary platform, Extra Yard for Teachers, is dedicated to elevating the teaching profession by inspiring and empowering teachers in four core areas: resources, recognition, professional development, recruitment and retention.

Leadership

The CFP Foundation was formed in 2014 with the introduction of the new playoff system to make a significant difference through the platform of college football.

CFP Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors, which includes the commissioners of the ten FBS Conferences and the athletics director at the University of Notre Dame. The Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Financial Officer of College Football Playoff also serve as officers.

Organizational Leadership

Britton Banowsky

Executive Director

Britton Banowsky was named the first Executive Director of the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation in July 2015. He leads the organization’s philanthropic initiative, as well as its capstone project, Extra Yard for Teachers (EYFT). Banowsky’s role includes coordinating all legacy investments in host cities, expanding positive impact for teachers year-round, as well as directing the long-term strategic plan for the CFP Foundation. Prior to his role with the CFP Foundation, Banowsky served as commissioner of Conference USA for 13 years and was a member of the CFP Board of Directors. A licensed attorney, Banowsky was general counsel for the Big 12 Conference for six years. From 1993 - 1996, he was commissioner of the Southland Conference. From 1990 - 1993 he served as the assistant commissioner of the Southwest Conference. During his time in college athletics, Banowsky served on numerous national committees. He started his career practicing law in Dallas.

Outside of the CFP Foundation, Banowsky has been involved with many public service programs in Dallas. He served on the Dallas Mayor’s Task Force on Poverty, chaired the Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance, founded the non-profit the Heart of Dallas and chaired the Dallas Mayor’s Commission on Homelessness.

Born in Los Angeles, he is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, where he earned both a business and a law degree. Banowsky and his wife, Cindy, have three children: Kendall, Brit and Wade, as well as four grandchildren, Cora, Winn, Wade and Lila.

Margaret Frank

Partnerships MANAGER

Margaret Frank joined the College Football Playoff Foundation team in July 2022 and serves as the Partnerships Manager. Margaret is responsible for maximizing impact through the Foundation’s strategic partners, including conference and bowl partners, educational partners and corporate partners, as well as overseeing all program management including: Extra Yard for Teachers Week, the Big Day, the Makeover Project and the Eckrich Teacher of the Year Experience.

A native of Nashville, TN, Margaret received her degree in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee in 2018.Following graduation, Margaret moved to Dallas, Texas to work with Teach for America. She spent four years teaching fourth grade and kindergarten and was selected as the Teacher of the Year for her campus in 2020. Margaret received her master’s degree in education from Southern Methodist University in 2020, with an emphasis in gifted and special education.

Kelli Robinson

Program Administrator

Robinson joined the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation in September 2023. As program administrator, Robinson is responsible for the day to day operations of the CFP Foundation including invoicing, grant fulfillment and programming support.

Prior to her role as program administrator, Robinson led the youth basketball academy at Dallas Mavericks where she created and founded the Girls Empowered by Mavericks program (GEM) that aims to engage, inspire and empower 9-14 year old female student-athletes in the DFW area through basketball. Outside of the CFP Foundation, she enjoys going to sporting events and traveling to visit friends and family. Born in Orange County, Robinson was a student-athlete and graduate of Sacramento State, where she earned a BA in Communications.
