The Extra Yard 5K is a family-friendly 3.1 mile run/walk hosted in conjunction with the national championship game that offers a chance for locals as well as out-of-town fans to take part in national championship weekend.
The 2023 edition of the Extra Yard 5K race will be held beginning at 8 a.m. PT on Sunday, January 8 in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. The race will start and finish in Gilbert Lindsay Plaza. And, if you’re not in LA for the national championship game, you can join us virtually!
Each Extra Yard 5K participant will receive a t-shirt and medal, while the top overall male and top overall female finishers (in-person) will each win two tickets to the CFP National Championship, slated for SoFi Stadium on Monday, January 9, 2023.
All proceeds benefit Extra Yard for Teachers, the College Football Playoff Foundation's primary platform that elevates the teaching profession by inspiring and empowering quality teachers.
In 2023, The College Football Playoff Foundation is headed to Los Angeles.
