Background and Focus
Like many areas in the US, Houston is experiencing an unprecedented teachers shortage. According to the Texas Education Agency, nearly 12% of the 2020-21 workforce, about 43,000 teachers - left the profession. The College Football Playoff Foundation will engage with the host city committee and non-profit education partners in the Houston area to stabilize the educator workforce using the Go Teach recruitment and retention cause brand and initiative, while also using the resources and power of college football to shine a light on the great teachers within Houston and surrounding areas. We will recruit educators in three primary ways: 1) a local media campaign, 2) an enhanced Go Teach Houston landing page which will not only provide resources for future and current educators, but also highlight the benefits of living in Houston and the unique perks of being a teacher in the area and 3) invest and support local grow your own programs for high school or paraprofessionals.
