COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF FOUNDATION AND CHEVRON JOIN FORCES TO SUPPORT TEACHERS

Chevron Fuel Your School Initiative Helps Fund Classroom Projects in Louisiana

IRVING, Texas – The College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation and Chevron have come together to support schools in the Greater New Orleans area during the month of October with the Chevron Fuel Your School initiative. The CFP Foundation’s involvement is an extension of its commitment to support teachers in Louisiana with the CFP National Championship coming to New Orleans in 2020, by providing them with resources to educate their students.

The promotion runs from October 1-31, 2019, helping teachers fund classroom projects when drivers fill up their tanks. A $1 donation will be made by Chevron to DonorsChoose.org for each fuel purchase of at least eight gallons at participating Chevron and Texaco stations. The CFP Foundation has committed to match each donation, up to $325,000. DonorsChoose.org will use the donations to fund eligible classroom projects from public schools (grades K-12) in the parishes of East Baton Rouge, Jefferson, Lafayette, Lafourche, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Tammany, Terrebonne, and New Orleans, Louisiana.

All classroom project requests must be submitted through and approved by DonorsChoose.org. Eligible classroom projects will be funded on a rotating basis by the order in which they are received.

“We’re very excited to come together with Chevron and DonorsChoose.org to support teachers and their classrooms in southern Louisiana,” said Britton Banowsky, CFP Foundation Executive Director. “DonorsChoose.org does a fantastic job of helping teachers with requests and making them become a reality. In the end, it all benefits the students. We encourage all Louisianans to fill up their cars at participating Chevron’s and Texaco’s during October in an effort to fund as many classroom projects as possible.”

“Fuel Your School is one part of our efforts to support local schools and teachers,” said Leah Brown, public affairs manager for Chevron’s Gulf of Mexico Business Unit. “We hope to spark a love of learning, help students succeed in school, and pave the way for them to be engineers and scientists in the future. We’re proud to once again bring the program to Louisiana and are looking forward to seeing some great submissions.”
