College Football Playoff Foundation Continues Partnership with Conference USA in Support of Teachers

IRVING, Texas – College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation has partnered with Conference USA (C-USA) through the Extra Yard for Teachers platform to support teachers throughout the conference’s footprint.
Similar to 2017, C-USA has purchased $150,000 in gift cards from Michaels for teachers to obtain needed classroom supplies via a grant from Extra Yard for Teachers. Each of the conference’s 14-member institutions has received $10,000 in gift cards to distribute to teachers in each respective market. Together, Conference USA, its schools and Michaels have identified schools in need in the following cities:
Charlotte – Charlotte, NC
Florida Atlantic – Boca Raton, FL
FIU – Miami, FL
Louisiana Tech – Ruston, LA
Marshall – Huntington, WV
Middle Tennessee – Murfreesboro, TN
North Texas – Denton, TX
Old Dominion – Norfolk, VA
Rice – Houston, TX
Southern Miss – Hattiesburg, MS
UAB – Birmingham, AL
UTEP – El Paso, TX
UTSA – San Antonio, TX
WKU – Bowling Green, KY
Over the last two months, the C-USA membership has hosted on-field presentations on each campus with a representative from Michaels, a representative from the host C-USA institution, and administrators and teachers from the recipient schools. All presentations were promoted on social media and digital platforms.
In addition, the host institution for the Conference USA Football Championship will award a $1,000 Michaels gift card to a local school district. The championship will be held on Saturday, December 1.
C-USA will also kick off a social media sweepstakes in conjunction with its conference championship game. The sweepstakes will encourage all teachers who received a gift card to show off their new supplies on Twitter and/or Instagram. Every picture posted, as well as each like, share and retweet, will count as an entry into a drawing for an additional $500 gift card from Michaels. The drawing will be held on Friday, January 4, and eight lucky winners announced on Monday, January 7, the day of the 2019 CFP National Championship.
