COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF FOUNDATION’S ANNUAL EXTRA YARD FOR TEACHERS WEEK SEES SIGNIFICANT GROWTH

Teachers Impacted Nationwide as Partner Participation Rises

IRVING, Texas – More than 7,000 teachers in all 50 states were positively affected during the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation’s seventh annual Extra Yard for Teachers Week and second annual Big Day for Teachers. Both of last week’s events mobilized the college football community in celebrating and honoring teachers. Overall participation in Extra Yard for Teachers Week and the Big Day doubled from 2020, as more than 500 partner organizations recognized great teachers and surprised educators with classroom resources.

Among the many successful activities and recognitions by partners of the CFP Foundation were these:

· ESPN launched a new “Answer the Call” PSA video for teachers across its networks and included segments celebrating teachers on College GameDay. Segments also ran on the SEC and ACC Networks.

· The 2022 Indianapolis Host Committee unveiled a new media center makeover for Victory College Prep, while offering up a free day for educators at five different state parks.

· Through a new partnership with Bowl Season, all 44 bowl games participated with gifts and surprises for local teachers. A grant-matching program is also in place that has the potential to raise $500,000 in additional support for teachers.

· More than 100 State Teachers of the Year (named over the past five years) helped surprise fellow educators with $100 DonorsChoose gift cards for classroom projects.

· More than 200 K-12 schools participated in a special delivery kit for a teacher on their respective campuses, featuring a game ball, t-shirt and gift certificate for classroom projects.

· Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) program gave deserving teachers at Indianapolis’ Holy Angels Catholic School $1,000 for their classrooms.

· Former CFP National Championship host communities participated, such as the Bay Area through “Follow Your Bliss” grants for teachers and Miami with a new school makeover reveal, as well as future host Houston, which surprised 10 teachers with resource funds.

· The Cotton Bowl Foundation honored Dallas-area teachers through a $50,000 grant to Catch Up & Read and a $50,000 grant to Urban Teachers.

· More than 30 high-level college football writers, personalities and former players gave social media shout-outs and re-tweets expressing appreciation for teachers and thanking them for their dedication.

· Among 640 partner organizations participated, including:

o Activations in each of the 50 states

o All 10 Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) conferences

o More than 80 FBS universities

o 90 corporate and education partners, including education organizations and non-profits

o All 10 host communities of the CFP National Championship (North Texas, Arizona, Tampa, Atlanta, Bay Area, New Orleans, South Florida, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Houston)

o More than 300 K-12 Schools
