OKCPS Foundation and College Football Playoff Foundation Fund $40,000 in Sports, Health and Wellness Projects for OKCPS Teachers

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – The OKCPS Foundation and the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation funded $40,000 in projects for OKCPS teachers in celebration of the Oklahoma vs. Alabama matchup in the first round of the 2025-26 College Football Playoff.

Teaming up with the CFP Foundation, the OKCPS Foundation committed a $20,000 match to the donation made by the College Football Playoff Foundation as part of their postseason Touchdown for Teachers initiative; doubling the impact and directly supporting OKCPS teacher projects in the areas of sports, health, and wellness. Totaling $40,000 in funding, this partnership funded 86 teacher projects through DonorsChoose, including items like team sports, gym equipment, healthy snacks and wellness essentials.

Designed to elevate, inspire and empower teachers, this flash funding ensures teachers gain the resources and recognition needed to remain successful.

“We’re proud to partner with the College Football Playoff Foundation to support our incredible OKCPS teachers and coaches,” said Kendra Horn, President and CEO of the OKCPS Foundation. “This funding makes a difference for OKCPS educators and students across the district. Thanks to this partnership we were able to fund sports, health, and fitness projects that help instill teamwork, leadership, and well-being for thousands of our kids.”

Since 2014, the CFP Foundation’s Extra Yard For Teachers program has become the largest sport entity dedicated to supporting K-12 educators, investing more than $92 million dollars. Committed to strategizing the College Football Playoff season to support local education initiatives, the CFP Foundation has partnered with school districts and educational nonprofits nationwide to benefit over 81,000 schools, impacting over 650,000 teachers.

“During the college football postseason, we celebrate the educators and coaches who go above and beyond for their students, and we’re incredibly grateful to Oklahoma City Public Schools for stepping up in such a meaningful way,” said Britton Banowsky, Executive Director of the College Football Playoff Foundation. “Their commitment to match this funding sends a powerful message about the value they place on recognizing and supporting great teachers and coaches who make a lasting impact in their schools and communities.”

The OKCPS Foundation has been a proud partner of DonorsChoose since 2014, leading to a total financial impact of more than $13.5 million and funding nearly 24,000 projects across the district, ranging from classroom supplies, technology, snacks, and other essentials. This flash-funding significantly boosts our total number of funded projects as well as gives our teachers and coaches the items they need to start the new year on the right foot.

“Our teachers are at the heart of student success. This incredible partnership between the OKCPS Foundation and the College Football Playoff Foundation is a powerful way to honor their impact,” said OKCPS Superintendent Dr. Jamie Polk.

“By investing in initiatives that support sports, health, and wellness, we are recognizing coaches as educators who help shape students’ character, leadership and discipline for lifelong success.”

Additionally, two OKCPS coaches will be publicly recognized during the Oklahoma vs. Alabama game. Each recipient will receive merch and an additional $500 from the CFP Foundation.

Together, the OKCPS Foundation and the CFP Foundation look forward to seeing the lasting impact of this partnership on students, teachers, and programs across the district. For information on how OKCPS Foundation supports OKCPS teachers, visit our website at okckids.com.
