Extra Yard for Teachers: CFP Foundation Honors Educators Across the Country Throughout the Month of May
As the College Football Playoff Foundation celebrates educators across the country through year-long programs designed to recognize, support and uplift, over 20 CFP Foundation-led activities dedicated to celebrating teachers will take place over the course of May’s Teacher Appreciation Month.
Honored Schools
Throughout May, the CFP Foundation’s Honored Schools initiative is surprising 55 Life-Changing Teacher Award winners in 10 different cities nationwide. The groundbreaking program empowers students and families to submit “Honor Stories” through the Honored Schools platform to recognize educators who make a difference in their respective communities. Each recognized teacher receives their student’s story and is celebrated both within their school community and on the Honored Schools website. To date, Honored Schools has celebrated more than 4,000 educators and has generated over 38,000 nominations from students and families across the country.
Great Teacher Spotlights
The CFP Foundation’s Great Teacher Spotlight program also continues throughout May, providing a platform for colleagues, parents, students and community members to nominate outstanding educators. These ongoing nominations help recognize teachers with surprise classroom donations, sponsorship activations and other special recognitions and initiatives that ensure educators feel gratitude for their work well beyond a single month on the calendar.
Clark County Teacher and Principal Surprises
In Las Vegas, the CFP Foundation’s commitment to investing in educators ahead of the 2027 CFP National Championship continues. Together with the CFP 2027 Las Vegas Host Committee, the CFP Foundation has already visited more than 25 schools throughout Clark County to recognize teachers and principals and provide surprise funding to support classroom resources. During Teacher Appreciation Week, an additional $50,000 in DonorsChoose STEM projects were funded, fulfilling teachers’ wish lists with durable building materials, consumable materials, digital programs and organization items.
Tag-A-Teacher
Over 1,200 teachers were tagged in an outpouring of social media support in the CFP Foundation’s Tag-a-Teacher campaign during Teacher Appreciation Week. To show extra appreciation, five lucky teachers were randomly selected to each receive a $100 DonorsChoose gift card to help purchase last-minute classroom supplies and finish the school year strong.
